Traveling has got to be one of my favorite parts of my job. It seems surreal to me that I can capture love stories all across the country. For that, I am forever grateful. I had the honor of documenting Jill and Tom’s wedding day in Maryland and it was utter bliss. From the beautiful color palette and details to how well everything was coordinated, it was just perfect. Getting Ready
At Rosewood Farms, there are two prep spaces which is where I went to meet up with Jill and her bridesmaids. Usually, I will start off the day by capturing some detail photos! Creating a good flat lay takes some craft, so I really get to have fun and be creative. If you want to read more about what detail photos are and what to include in them, click here! Can we also take a moment to appreciate the dog details engraved in their napkins and on their cookies?? After finishing up with details, I met up with Jill and her gal pals. Jill and her bridesmaids wore these gorgeous mauve-toned pj’s which I absolutely LOVED. Matching PJs, robes, and sweatshirts are just some of the many different ways you could be matching with your bridal party the morning of your wedding, just FYI.
First Look
Shortly after, Jill slipped into her dress and it was time for her to meet with Tom for their first look. Now a first look is something that has grown more and more popular over the years and with good reason! While some may want to stick to tradition, others may want a bit more privacy and intimacy with their partner before the actual ceremony. A first look may be for you if:
- You’re wanting more privacy & intimacy on your wedding day
- You have written personal vows that you don’t shared in front of your guests
- You are feeling anxious about being in front of a ton of people
If you fit under any of these categories, then a first look may just be your cup of tea! If you’re still on the fence about it, I always recommend speaking with your photographer or planner and seeing if this is the best option for you and your partner!
Jill and Tom had their first look in front of the beautiful fountain on the property at Rosewood Farms. It’s an unforgettable moment and one that I’m always so teary-eyed to capture.
Portraits
Now one of the many hesitations that come with hiring a photographer for your wedding day is of course the portraits. In general, a lot of people are scared of being photographed. This is actually super common and something that we photographers deal with on a daily basis. The best advice that I can give you is to communicate with your photographer. Your photographer is there to make sure that you fall in LOVE with your wedding photos and have the time of your life on your wedding day. The last thing we want is for you to feel completely uncomfortable in front of the camera which can then translate on camera.
Your wedding photographer is there throughout the wedding planning process to make sure that if you have any questions or concerns, those are addressed. Whether it comes down to posing tips, what to wear, how to act naturally in front of the camera, or how to hide insecurities. Communication is the key to making sure your wedding day runs as smoothly as possible.
Jill, Tom, and I wandered throughout the grounds of Rosewood Farms soaking up the sun any chance we got. There are many different photo opportunities throughout the Rosewood Farms property, so finding a beautiful backdrop was not an issue.
Rosewood Farms Wedding Ceremony at The Rustic Barn
It was then time for Jill and Tom’s ceremony at Rosewood Farms’ rustic barn. The rustic barn located at Rosewood Farms is a space that incorporates elements of the original barn with a modern twist. It’s a large space that’s grand with tons of light and windows surrounding the perimeter. It’s a beautiful space that was just perfect for Jill and Tom’s ceremony. Jill and Tom had the most beautiful wedding ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family. Tears were flowing, tissue boxes were being passed around and it was a moment filled with so much light and love.
Rosewood Farms Reception at The Rose Barn
If you’re wondering if the fun stops there, it doesn’t. The party then shifted to the Rose Barn located on the Rosewood Farms property for their reception. With 20-foot ceilings, an open floor plan, and a 275 guest max capacity, this was the perfect space for Jill and Tom’s reception. To learn more about the rose barn, just click here!
Now, what’s a good wedding without a celebratory shot, right? Jill and Tom shared their first shot as husband & wife in front of all of their wedding guests before hopping onto the dance floor for their first dance. After speeches and a bit of stuffing our faces with some cake, the dance floor opened up and it was game on. We spent the remainder of the night partying on the dance floor and soaking up the post-wedding bliss.
In conclusion, it really was the perfect ending to a perfect day. I could not be more excited for this next chapter in Jill and Tom’s life. Congratulations J+T!
