Fall time is known for the changing of the leaves and crisp breeze. It’s also known as the time for many couples to get engaged! Not only does it have the most picture-perfect weather, but it’s where the holidays are in full swing and lovers are making their moves. Along with getting engaged, the Fall season is the most sought-after time to book engagement sessions. You’re also able to use your engagement photos for save-the-dates and Christmas cards. Which are some of the many reasons couples look to have their engagement session during this time of year. For Sarah and Ryan, their autumn engagement at Valley Forge Park was just as you could expect it. Stunning, beautiful, and absolutely perfect.
Valley Forge National Park
Valley Forge National Park is a landmark comprised of 3,500 acres of monuments, meadows, and woodlands. It’s a beautiful wide open space, with tons of historical landmarks and significance as well. It’s one of my favorite locations to bring couples for their engagement session. Especially if you’re looking for some breathtaking Fall foliage.
Autumn Engagement at Valley Forge Park
For Sarah and Ryan, it was really important that we make them feel as authentically themselves as possible. This means really focusing on those candids and less on the grin-and-grab poses. In order for you to feel your most natural in front of the camera, I even prompt my couples to pretend I’m not even there… to a certain extent. This is honestly the best way to capture the rawest and most real emotions while still getting that beautiful imagery.
The time spent at Valley Forge Park consisted of walking around the grounds and soaking up as much sun as we could before the sun went down. Sarah and Ryan are some of the kindest and sweetest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and getting to take their engagement photos was an absolute dream.
Tips For Your Fall Engagement Session:
- Aim to shoot earlier in the day: Due to daylight savings, the sun sets much earlier in the Fall time. This means if you’re looking for those beautiful, well-lit photos that have some golden hour you should expect to shoot earlier in the day closer to around 2-3 rather than later.
- Make sure to dress comfortably & warm: Depending on where you live, Fall time can get very chilly. So make sure that if you’re planning on having an outdoor engagement session somewhere, you dress comfortably and warm for the temperatures outside.
- Pack the essentials: Make sure you’re packing the essentials for your engagement session. Some of these essentials can consist of: a hairbrush and/or comb (for those Fall breezes), extra shoes, and a jacket.
