Fall Engagement at Longwood Gardens

Oct 19, 2022

One of the best pieces of advice that I can give you is make sure you trust your photographer when it comes to your engagement photos. Your engagement photos should be a reflection of you and your partner! It’s important to look back on these images and feel a true representation of who you are as well as who you two will become. This next big step in your journey of life… together. It was important for Katherine and Seth to feel comfortable in front of the camera. Not only that, but to be able to feel that romance and love between each other whenever they looked back at their photos. That’s why having their Fall engagement at Longwood Gardens was the perfect opportunity to showcase their love and be able to share it with the world.

Katherine & Seth – A Love Story

Katherine and Seth met during their first semester of their Freshman year at Virginia Tech. In a class of 300, they coincidentally sat right next to each other. I’m assuming fate was playing their role right then and there. It was after a few interactions and bump-ins that these two really hit it off and began dating in September of 2016.

Over the years of them dating they have built their life together. Enjoying going out to eat, sipping on some margaritas, and watching sunsets on the beach. They even share a beautiful kitty, Leo. It wasn’t until July of 2022 that they would take the next big leap in their life journey together. On their summer vacation in Avalon, New Jersey Seth had popped the question with a surprise proposal. Excitingly and with tears in her eyes, the only answer for Katherine was yes. Seth then was able to surprise her with an engagement party with all her family and friends. Since that point, Katherine and Seth have been riding the high of their engagement couldn’t be more excited for this next step.

Conservatories, Gardens and Meadows at Longwood Gardens

Longwood Gardens is one of our favorite locations to take couples for their engagement photos. Around you is beautiful greenery and plethora of different plant species. Located on the property are beautiful conservatories, gardens and meadows that will make your heart skip a beat. Along with the beautiful greenery, walking to a different area has you struck by beautiful fountains and water gardens. The main star however, being the Main Fountain Garden. A European-inspired garden that transports you to another world. Longwood Gardens is such an incredibly large space with so many different scenes. With it being so large, it’s really easy to decide on which style engagement photos you’re looking for.

Keep in mind that if you plan on getting your engagement photos taken at Longwood Gardens, all parties (including your photographer) will have to purchase a general admissions ticket. More information is here!

Fall Engagement at Longwood Gardens

Katherine and Seth’s engagement session was photographed by one of our associate photographers and was as beautiful and radiating as their love and passion for one another. Together, they first made our way to one of the beautiful conservatories with associate photographer, Ashley. Surrounded by the multitude of florals sand greenery, with the sun peaking in through the rooftop windows, it was pure perfection.

Whenever we work with our couples, we typically will recommend to bring two different outfits. Of course, depending on how much time we have allotted for your engagement photos. Most of the time two works perfectly though! It gives you the opportunity to bring a much more casual outfit and one that is a bit more formal. Together, Katherine and Seth were able to coordinate their outfits perfectly. Katherine wore light-wash jeans and a crochet lace white top. While Seth wore a green collared shirt and khaki chinos which added a subtle pop of color. I absolutely loved the different textures that their outfits brought to the session and they photographed beautifully!

European-Inspired Engagement at the Main Fountain Garden

Shortly after, they made their way to the Historic Main Conservatory before heading to the Acacia Passage. It was at this time where they decided an outfit change was in order! Katherine changed into this beautiful muted mint green dress while Seth wore a subtle checkered pattern blue suit. Now if you ask me, one of the standout features of Longwood Gardens has got to be their Main Fountain Garden. You’re greeted with European-inspired architecture, hand-carved Italianate limestone, stonework and beautiful sculptures. If you’ve been wanting to venture off to Europe but haven’t been given the opportunity, this is your next best thing! This was the perfect spot to end off their engagement session and we couldn’t have been more excited to send off these photos and show Katherine and Seth how amazing they looked!

I can’t wait until SCP gets to continue capturing their love story at the French Creek Golf Club next August!
