Summer Engagement Photos in Old City Philadelphia | Daniella + John

Sep 30, 2020

Daniella and John met in college in Philadelphia and got engaged at Race Street Pier, so it was only fitting for them to do their summer engagement photos in Old City! I couldn’t help but smile the whole time I spent going through their images because you can just FEEL the joy by looking at them! With that said, I’ll just let the photos speak for themselves…

How He Asked

“John did a lot of planning, with a lot of surprises! Around the beginning of September John had suggested to me we go have a day in Philly Oct 18th. Because he was taking part of the CPA exam that day and wanted to go “unwind” and have fun (obviously I was on board). So, we both took off from work and had that day set in stone. About a week out, I started suggesting we didn’t go because we should be saving money. John was insistent we go and wouldn’t have it any other way. I finally got on board and agreed to still go.

The day of, we started out in a small brewery in Old City. After we had some drinks, John suggested we go take a walk and go have food/drinks at Morgans Pier. I agreed, but on the way, we passed a beer garden at Race St Pier that I suggested we check out (Unknowingly walking into his plan). When we got to the end of the pier he stopped and grabbed my hands. Immediately I knew what was happening!!! I started crying and seriously couldn’t stop..I was so excited and filled with emotions! My best friend Nicole was there to capture the whole moment!

Surprise Dinner at Wm. Mulherin & Sons

John then surprised me with dinner reservations at Wm. Mulherin & Sons (sooo good!!). I kept asking when we were going to see/celebrate with our friends and he kept brushing me off saying we’d see them the next day. Well, after dinner reservations I suggested we go to Yards Brewery (again walking into my own surprise). John had set-up a happy hour with food and drink, and surprised me with all my friends! It was truly a great night!”

Their Favorite Date

“Our favorite thing to do at Christmas is instead of exchanging gifts, we chip in for a fun weekend in New York City! My favorite date is the year we got to see the Lion King (he surprised be with tickets at my birthday in November). It was a weekend of beautiful christmas weather in New York, good food, and lots of shopping! (We were even upgraded to the pent house when we checked in at the hotel!)”

What they’re most excited about for the wedding day

“We are definitely looking forward to the FOOD (our venue is known for its good food!!) and a night of dancing with all of our family and friends! It’s all about the memories we’re creating that day- and I am so excited we went with Sarah to capture all the moments!! I am also really looking forward to all my photos! Photography was certainly high up on our priority list when we began wedding planning!”
