William Penn Inn Wedding | Gwynedd, Pa | Alice + Chris

Nov 22, 2017

Celebrating this lovely day with Alice and Chris was a dream come true. This William Penn Inn wedding was breathtaking and absolutely adorable at the same time. I love Alice and Chris’ love story, and I think all the details for this day came together perfectly. Alice and Chris have such an adorable story. Early on, I learned that their favorite place to be together is Cape May, New Jersey! I shot their engagement portraits at the Cape May winery, which is actually where Chris proposed! Later on, the two shared a special moment during their ceremony to commemorate their love for Cape May and the beach – but shooting the two as they got ready was such an enchanting moment. I loved the rich and creamy tones of all of their details. There is something so elegant about all neutral details. I adored Alice’s Badgley Mischka flats! They added the perfect amount of glitz while still being super comfy! The all white bridal bouquet by the flower shop at The William Penn Inn was perfectly complimented with black ribbon and pulled everything together. While I photographed the two getting ready, they were all smiles, and adorable jitters, as they got ready for the ceremony.

Taking photos of the nearly married couple was – as per usual – such an exciting moment. I loved Alice and Chris’ first look! They were both overwhelmed with joy. I think moments like that really break up the stress and butterflies of the day! Although it rained, we were sure to still get some portraits outside. THANK YOU to my amazing clients for always trusting me. I totally stood out in the pouring rain to photograph them while they were under covering. Good thing I’m not IN any of the pictures because I looked quite wet by the end! I’ll do anything for the shot! I loved the simplicity of the white wall that we found. I think it was meant to be for Alice’s simple and elegant taste and the color scheme of the day. Speaking of color scheme, can we talk about how stunning the bridal party was?!  Black bridesmaid dresses and black tuxedos with bow ties made everything look so classy!! I am so glad this couple opted for a first look. We had the chance to get so many beautiful portraits and they could enjoy time with their family and bridal party before the ceremony. Delight filled the air as the big event drew closer!

This indoor ceremony was very cozy and romantic on such a rainy and cool day in November! Alice and Chris shared their ‘I do’s’ with lots of buzzing joy and thrilled smiles! Their eyes were absolutely locked on one another.  A small, but perfect, detail was the mixing of two types of sand to symbolize their unity. One bit from a beach that Alice had visited with her family, and another from a beach that Chris had visited. It was topped with sand from Cape May, where they love to travel together. The sand represented the newly combined chapter of their life. I thought it was so sweet that the beach meant so much to them and they involved it in their ceremony in such a special way! There was so much love in this room! Everyone laughed and cried together as the couple shared their vows and exchanged rings. The first kiss and walk back down the aisle as husband and wife was joyous.

All the details of this gorgeous William Penn Inn wedding reception just took my breath away. With all things black, white, and gold, I was in love! The venue was stunning, and the perfect place for dancing! I absolutely loved that Alice went with tall centerpieces pouring with more all white flowers, it definitely made the room! The place cards were held with wine corks from the Cape May Winery where Chris proposed and we did their engagement photos! Such a fun idea and once again pulled in the couple’s love for Cape May and WINE! Alice and Chris met working in the restaurant industry and their table numbers were named by the places they loved to eat and go on dates. Also very fitting that their favors were custom cork coasters for everyone to take home! This space was so perfectly orchestrated and I was so excited to see the space filled by joyous guests and, eventually, the newly wed couple!

The party really got started once the reception began! Alice and Chris made quite the grand entrance and had everyone enjoying themselves right off the bat. All of the first dances were emotional and lovely. A ton of laughs were shared during speeches! I think everyone in attendance will be talking about the speech given by the best men for quite a while. Alice’s mom served at her Maid of Honor which made for some really heart felt moments! The funny roasts were well balanced with heartfelt memories and congratulations. The dance floor was never empty here! I think a great time was had by all and all of the day’s memories will last a lifetime! Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Costello!!
